Offer for the week of August 01 - 08
A vacation in Favignana
Favignana is undoubtedly the ideal destination to begin a vacation in the Aegadian Islands, as the island, in addition to being the largest of the archipelago, is also the best connected by public transportation (remember to book the Trapani-Favignana ferry) and is a perfect starting point for visiting Levanzo and Marettimo. You can explore it by car or boat, but the best way to do so is by renting a scooter or bicycle, preferably an electric one, to easily reach all the coves and inlets, even the most secluded ones. There are also numerous excursions in Favignana: from trekking on Mount Santa Caterina with a view from the castle, to visiting the underground gardens, or taking a boat tour of the island with access to the sea caves.
The town center consists of two main squares connected by a street lined with bars and restaurants. We then reach the marina, ideal for an after-dinner or sunset stroll, perhaps enjoying a gelato, a brioche with granita, or one of the many sweet treats you can discover during your stay on the nearby beach.
The town of Favignana undoubtedly transports visitors to a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, ideal for a seaside holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The tuna-based dishes, handed down through generations, are particularly delicious. Naturally, Favignana's true pride is its sea, still pristine and with its splendid hues, with idyllic corners of secluded beaches of fine golden sand, often tinged pink by coral washed ashore by the currents.
Among the many things to do in Favignana, there are some that are definitely worth doing more than others! Here's a short list:
Dive into the crystal-clear waters of Cala Rossa, in a unique natural setting.
Visit the sea caves in the company of local fishermen.
Take part in an adventurous fishing excursion or sport fishing charter, testing your skills with all the techniques.
Scuba dive among shipwrecks and shallows, and make at least one dive at the stunning Secca del Toro.
Watch the sunset from Punta Sottile, watching the sun set beyond the lighthouse.
Admire the panorama from the Castello di S. Caterina, the highest point on Favignana, overlooking the entire archipelago.
Visit the museum of the former Florio factory with one of the many guided tours.
Visit the ancient tuff quarries and the underground gardens that now thrive there.
